About the role

Yooralla has a vacancy in Leongatha for a positive, passionate person with effective communication skills to join our team as a casual Disability Support Worker (DSW). This rewarding role will provide direct support to people with disability of all ages and needs in a community and recreational setting. Your working days will be varied and may involve:

  • supporting people to get to (and at) appointments or events
  • taking people out to, and supporting them at, recreation and social activities
  • providing assistance with daily living including meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility
  • supporting people to participate in life skills programs, and
  • supporting children and young people during holiday programs, camps and other recreational activities.

About You

Relevant qualifications, experience or an interest in community services would be great if you have them! However, most importantly, you’ll need a great attitude and a willingness to learn. To be successful in this role you’ll share Yooralla’s values and have:

  • initiative, self-motivation and a positive approach
  • a willingness to demonstrate a commitment to empowering our customers to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work
  • clear and effective communication skills, and a good level of English to communicate well with our customers
  • the right to work in Australia
  • a Victorian driver’s licence with comprehensive car insurance
  • experience working with clients with complex needs and manual handling
  • a current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary certificate (or obtain one), and
  • availability to work Monday's, Tuesdays's and every second Thursday and Friday between 9am - 3pm.

Applicants with a Certificate IV in disability are strongly encouraged to apply.

Candidates will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening and must comply with other checks including [[a Working with Children Check and]] an English literacy test.
