Salary Range:         $105,463.78 – $130,189.71 (depends on experience) + superannuation + salary packaging

As a Specialist Behaviour Support (SBS) Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Utilising the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, which focuses on human rights and evidence-based methods, you'll work collaboratively to reduce the frequency and severity of behaviours of concern while empowering individuals to thrive.

This position is responsible for supporting the Professional Lead - Specialist Behaviour Support/Psychology in the establishment, management and ongoing development of a person-directed and outcome-focused specialist behaviour support service across the lifespan to; children and families, young people, and adults with a disability.

The SBS Team Leader is a pivotal member of the SBS/Psychology Senior Leadership Team. This position supports capacity building and ensures that services provided are strengths-based, person-centred and in line with evidence-based practice and align with government or other funding requirements. e.g. Social Services, Medicare, NDIA, schools and hospitals where applicable. A key focus of the role includes referral, client allocation and process management, quality control and capacity building of staff to deliver services in a changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Management, quality control and capacity building of staff to deliver high quality SBS services
  • Assist the Professional Lead SBS/Psychology with recruitment and workforce planning
  • Develop and support new staff’s induction processes and procedures
  • Support staff to effectively manage caseloads and organisational requirements
  • Coordinate the allocation of staff to clients and external partners in conjunction with the Professional Lead and practitioners
  • Promote on the ground reflective practice and learning within the team
  • Identify areas of priority for development within the team and establish a team with human-rights focused and evidence-based core and specialist skill sets
  • Support the Professional Lead to manage team dynamics
  • Support productive working relationships and work life balance by fostering behaviour and performance that is in line with the organisational and professional code of conduct, values, and policy frameworks
  • Ensure statistical data is collected as required and provide timely reports on funding and service agreements including benchmarks and targets as required
  • Facilitate peer support or supervision as required and suitable
  • Participate in and contribute to SBS/Psychology Senior Leadership planning meetings, including process, document and procedure review and development.

Mandatory Requirements

A Team Leader - Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner must demonstrate attainment of completed self-assessment and endorsed according to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) PBS Capability Framework as either all domains “capability met” or as “developing” in their competencies and knowledge at Proficient to Advanced level. To be successful in this role you’ll share Yooralla’s values and have:

  • Current National Police Record Check
  • International Police Check (if required)
  • Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline (e.g., psychology, social work, occupational therapy, applied behaviour analysis, disability, health)
  • Registration as a Proficient to Advanced Practitioner (or eligibility for registration) under the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework
  • Previous experience as a Proficient to Advanced Practitioner under the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Capability Framework
  • Current driver's license valid in Australia and access to your vehicle with employment-related travel reimbursement provided (Travel is an expectation of the position)

Professional Experience (Desirable):

  • Previous experience working in a disability-related field (e.g., disability support work, support coordination, disability advocacy)
  • Previous experience providing team leadership, being a lead support or similar leadership role
  • Lived experience of disability
