About the Role  

This is a hybrid role based at our head office locations at 595 Collins Street and Botanica as per agreed anchor days, with site travel to regional offices and programs as required. The role offers flexibility to work from home up to three days per week, provided it does not impact operational requirements.

The WHS and Risk Systems Business Partner is responsible for strengthening the organisation’s WHS and risk management frameworks. Acting as a subject matter expert, the role ensures effective operation and continuous improvement of WHS systems, including emergency management, compliance, and personal safety devices. It provides expert guidance, maintains system integrity, supports data-driven reporting, and drives timely action on safety and risk matters. The position also promotes a proactive safety culture and integrates best practices across the organisation.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Specific Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and support
  • Maintain and optimise WHS and risk systems
  • Monitor and analyse WHS and risk data
  • Partner with operational leaders and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of risk and WHS strategies
  • Lead or participate in projects and working groups
  • Lead Emergency Management activities
  • Provide WHS business partner support to an assigned portfolio

About You
Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across teams and programs, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and cooperation to achieve common objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders and prepare clear, accurate reports and documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility, resilience, and effective time management.
  • Highly developed negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills to enable effective liaison with all people at all levels and to motivate others to adopt methods or strategies where there are conflicting interests and opinions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a leadership role and effectively coordinate emergency management activities, including assuming command in critical situations and ensuring an organised, timely, and compliant response.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to negotiate and provide expert advice on WHS matters, including incident management and risk mitigation strategies
  • A collaborative and values-driven approach, with the ability to work effectively across teams and programs to support shared goals.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with SharePoint or risk/safety platforms is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making in a WHS and risk context.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy in documentation, data entry, and system management.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting systems or enterprise risk management software

Desirable

  •  Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Risk Manager) are highly desirable.
  • Formal Emergency Management qualifications or training.


Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Current National Police Record Check
  • valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current drivers’ licence
