A day in Life of a Disability Support Worker at Yooralla 

So what will you actually be doing as a DSW supporting Noble Park Community Hub and surrounding Residential Services?

This rewarding casual role supports adults with disability one-on-one or in small groups — both in their homes and out in the community. You’ll work closely with individuals to implement personalised support plans that help them live as independently as possible. No one workday (or night) will be the same!

You’ll support clients to:

  • Participate in recreation, social, and community activities

  • Attend events, appointments, and shopping trips

  • Work towards personal goals and build meaningful connections

  • Support daily living needs, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and mobility

  • Maintain active daily living and personal care routines

  • Encourage independence, dignity, and choice

Shift details

  • One position requires consistent Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm day shift availability.

  • The other two positions may include a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, sleepovers, and active nights.

 

About You

We’re looking for people who are passionate, have a great attitude, and an eagerness to learn. You’ll share Yooralla’s values and have:

  • A positive approach, initiative, and self-motivation

  • A commitment to empowering clients to reach their goals and uphold quality and safeguards in your everyday work

  • Effective communication skills and good English literacy

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team

  • Willingness to support clients with personal care activities

Preferred experience and skills:

  • Previous experience in the disability sector

  • Manual handling experience and/or training

  • Australian Driver License

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance and the right to work in Australia

  • Ability to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate if you don’t already have one

A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience, or an interest in community services would be highly regarded. If not, don’t worry – Yooralla provides excellent training and support, and can even help you work and study. You may already have transferable skills that make you a great fit for the role.
