Hourly Rate: $34 to $38 plus casual loading (depending upon experience and skills)

A day in the life of a Community and Recreation Disability Support worker at Yooralla.

So what will you actually be doing as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community and Recreation? This rewarding role supports adults with disability to get out and about in the community. You may support people one-on-one or in groups, mostly in the community, and occasionally in their homes. No one work day will be the same! You might support clients with: 

  • working towards their goals 

  • a wide range of recreation and social activities  

  • shopping, appointments and events 

  • engaging in meaningful opportunities and relationships, and 

  • daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility.

About You

You’re passionate, positive, and eager to learn. You share Yooralla’s values and are committed to supporting people with disability to achieve their goals.

You’ll bring:

  • A proactive, can-do attitude and self-motivation

  • Strong communication skills and good English literacy

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team

  • Willingness to support clients with personal care

  • Availability must be Monday to Friday, preferably 8am to 4pm
  • A current Australian Driver License and working rights

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check

You’ll also need (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

Work Experience and/ or a Certificate IV in Disability is great—but not essential.
